Woodlark sweater has an easy knit and purl herringbone pattern on the body and sleeves. The sweater is knitted from the top and because of the pattern no further edge is needed. That provides a nice finish, but also makes it easy to adjust the length of the body and sleeves.

Gauge
21 sts x approx. 30 rows St st = 10 x 10 cm on needle size 4 mm (US6).
23 sts x approx. 25 rows with herringbone pattern = 10 x 10 cm on needle size 4 mm (US6).
Wash and block your swatch before measuring gauge.
Note, cream and blue sweater: The entire sweater is worked with two strands of yarn held together, 1 of each type.

Selecting a size
Woodlark sweater has an intended positive ease of approx. 25-35 cm 10-14 inches. It is shown with approx. 35 cm 14 inches of positive ease to get an oversize shape. Find your personal size by measuring yourself around the chest (or the largest part of the body). Then look at the measurements at page 1 (this is the finished measurements of the Tee). Positive ease is the difference between your bust circumference and the bust circumference of the sweater. Is your bust circumference e.g. 90 cm 35 inches, a size S/M will give you 35 cm 14 inches of positive ease (125 cm – 90 cm = 35 cm). 49 inches –35 inches = 14 inches The length is measured at the center back, not including the neckband.

Construction note
Woodlark Sweater is worked top-down. You start at the top of the back, then form the back of the shoulders down to the bottom of the armholes. Then, the front section of the shoulders is worked, and the neckline is shaped. When the upper sections of the back and front sections are completed, they are joined in the round and the body is finished on a circular needle in the round. Stitched are then picked up along the armholes and the sleeves are worked top down. The sleeves of the cream sweater are knitted without decreases (wide sleeves), but if you do not want width at the bottom of the sleeves, you can work decreases as on the blue sweater. Instructions are provided for both. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neckline. A ribbed edge is worked and then folded over to the inside and knitted down on the wrongside to make a folded neckband.
