This snowflake themed hat has a ribbed welt and a stocking stitch body with a Fair Isle (stranded) snowflake repeat pattern encircling the lower section of the hat body. The snowflake motifs are worked using only two colours in a row which makes this an ideal pattern for those new to the Fair Isle technique. The hats pictured are worked using a lovely soft pure wool yarn in worsted weight and are topped with an optional pompom, instructions for a ‘messy bun’ version of this hat are also included.

The pattern covers sizes from toddler to adult and the instructions are written for both knitting flat on two needles with a seam at the back, or in the round using a circular needle with no seaming necessary. Each pattern is written out fully – Pompom Hat knit flat, Messy Bun Hat knit flat, Pompom knit in the round and Messy Bun knit in the round.
