Wooly Mitts - The First Snowfall
Hand knit Fisherman’s wool is embroidered in anticipation of the very first snow…they remind me of the first flakes to land on the cold, brown earth in December. These fit any size hand, and are easily customized for height and snowflake preferences. :) Happy Winter!
These mitts are a fairly simple project but feature some more advanced construction skills to keep things interesting. Provisional cast on, three-needle bind off, and basic embroidery are used. A great project to boost the beginner to a mitty-knitting fool, and absolute comfort knitting for the more experienced. Neither knitter should be bored!
Errata! Due to late-night designing habits and insomnia, there was an error in cast on stitches and row 2. Cast on 25 stitches. Row 2 should read “K 4, p 16, k 5.” the number of cast on stitches, and thus the number of purl stitches in row 2 is flexible. It’s simply a matter of how long over the wrist you want your mitts, and I frequently alter this number myself. As long as the garter “ribs” remain the same, it’s gravy. Sorry for any confusion!
