The very first pattern I made up on my own was this one. When I first learned to knit, my uncle and husband needed a hearty hat for winter chores. I promptly made myself one, too. To date, it is my most worn hat. I reach for this hat when I am shoveling snow, getting firewood, or headed out to star gaze in winter.

This is an easy pattern, and great for beginners!

The pattern comes in 4 sizes; child, teen/adult s, adult m/l, adult xl/xxl.
