World's Largest Pumpkin
Skill Level:
I would consider this an advanced beginner pattern. You need patience and you must know how to
fpdc/bpdc. You will also need novice sewing skills such as a running stitch and blanket stitch.
Materials:
You will need yarn, scissors, a strong tapestry needle, a 6.00 mm crochet hook, 1 box of poly-fill for stuffing. You will also need a sheet of orange felt and a matching strong sewing thread. To create the pumpkin stem, you will need tin foil, oven bake clay, and various paints. You will also need E6000 glue as well as a hot glue gun and glue sticks.
Let’s talk yarn!
You will need #4 worsted weight yarn for this project. I used six 14-ounce skeins of yarn. I used Red Heart Super Saver in the color pumpkin. Feel free to use any color or brand you would like for your
pumpkin. Just make sure you have 4500 yards of yarn.
Final Measurements:
Your finished pumpkin will be roughly 3 ft tall from top of stem to bottom of pumpkin. This may vary slightly depending on your tension or how much you stuff your finished pumpkin.
Gauge:
Gauge is not important for this pattern! Every pumpkin is unique!
Abbreviations:
• Ch: chain
• Sl st: slip stitch
• Dc: double crochet
• Fpdc: front post double crochet
• Bpdc: back post double crochet
Notes:
