Wormy Socks
A simple wave and shield pattern from the first Barbara Walker Treasury yields beautiful results. The strong lines hold their own even against brightly colored variegated yarns. The pattern itself is much easier than it looks, as the repeat is simple to memorize, and on the even rows you work the stitches as they appear and just knit into the yarn-overs. My dear friend Kimber, who is easily the sock queen of our group, does a cute wormy dance that these waving lines remind me of strongly. So this wormy sock is named for her!
This happy bright sock is worked toe-up in the magic loop style with a short-row heel. Detailed instructions with pictures are provided for the provisional cast-on and the toe-up construction. It has charted and written instructions for the lace pattern, and is offered in two sizes, a 56-stitch and a 70-stitch count. The 70-stitch count sock fits a woman’s size 10 wide foot comfortably when worked on size 1 addis and Sugarbee Studios Sock Yarn - shown in the Cheap Date colorway.
