The “Muñecas Quitapenas” - “worry dolls” in English - are small-sized dolls of Guatemalan origin.

According to local tradition, the dolls are able to take our worries away:
before going to sleep, we share in private with the doll our concerns. We also might want to say “Thank you.” Then, finally, we place the doll below our pillow, and she will take our worries away while we sleep.

There are different variations to make the doll regarding her blouse and her skirt. All options are explained in the pattern.

LANGUAGE:

MATERIALS:
-Small amounts of cotton yarn in colors of your choice
-Threads of black, white and red yarn
-Crochet hook for the yarn you use (I used a 2,5 mm hook for the dolls and a 3 mm for the pouch)
-Stitch marker or a thread of yarn
-Scissors
-Tapestry needle
-Soft toy stuffing

SIZE:
If made with suggested yarn and hook, the dolls will be approximately 8-9,5 cm (3.2-3.8 inches) tall

LEVEL:
Advanced beginner

SKILLS NEEDED:
-Basic crochet stitches like chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet. Also, spike single crochet stitch which is explained in the pattern.
-You should know how to: work in continuous rounds (spiral), work in rows, do color changes and sc increase.
