Wrapped in Love Shawl
I have a passion for Double Knitting. I love how you can play with the colors and the way each piece is totally reversible. Although front and back look identical they are in fact each other’s opposite.
This is my second triangular shawl. Double Florin Shawl was my first and very well received by lots of my knitting friends. I love wearing this shape. It hangs beautifully around the shoulders without having the urge to slip off. I asked my Facebook followers to help me name this new shawl full of hearts. So I proudly present: Wrapped in Love Shawl.
It has nice I-cord edgings and a generous size with a wingspan of two meters and a height of 65 centimeters. The relatively low height makes it very versatile to wear, keeping your shoulders warm without being bulky. Knitted with Schoppel Wolle Zauberball Crazy in two colorways.

If you have never double knitted before, I would suggest you watch a couple of YouTube video’s on this method of knitting, just to get a general understanding of the technique.
Double knitting is not hard at all, just remember; as always: it’s just knit and purl.
What makes this design a little bit more challenging than for example a rectangular double knit project are the increases and decreases. They have to be done both for the front and the back.
Double knitting in general:
- Front and back are each other’s mirror and opposite in color
- Front and back are both in stockinette stitch
- Your work is totally reversible
- Needs double the yarn of a single knitted piece
- Every stitch (square) in the pattern exists of a knit stitch for the front in color A and a purl stitch for the back in color B or the other way round.
This shawl gets its triangular shape by increasing one stitch on the end of each odd row until you reach half of the desired length of the shawl. At that point you will start decreasing one stitch at the end of each odd row for the rest of the shawl.
