IDEAL FOR WORSTED WEIGHT STASH/SCRAP BUSTING!
Inspired by an author-friend and born out of necessity for an easy project after having a baby, Writer’s Block is super simple to knit and super comfy to wear. Made up of blocks of striped garter stitch fabric, this simple drop shoulder cardigan will keep you warm through the winter months as you curl up to journal or to knit at your favorite coffee haunt.
Loose-fitting garter stitch cardigan featuring a v-neck with a generous shawl collar and pockets. To fit women XS (S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, 6X, 7X).
Finished Measurements 41 (45, 49, 53, 57, 61, 65, 69, 73, 77, 81)”/104 114, 124, 134, 144, 155, 165, 175, 185.5, 195.5, 205.5cm bust circumference. Cardigan shown measures 45”/114cm, designed to be worn with 13”/33cm of positive ease.
Yarn Cascade Yarns Cascade 220 (100% Peruvian Highland Wool), 220yds 200m/3.5oz 100g; #8400 Charcoal Grey (MC) 4 (5, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 7, 8) hanks; Noro Silk Garden (45% silk, 45% mohair, 10% wool), 109yds 100m/1.75oz50g; #358 (CC) 6 (6, 7, 8, 8, 9, 9, 10, 10, 11, 11).
Needles US Size 9 (5.5mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions 4 removable markers, tapestry needle.
Stitch Guide Garter Stitch: Knit every row.
Gauge 16 sts and 32 rows = 4”/10cm in Garter Stitch (see Stitch Guide).
Notes Arrows on schematics indicate direction of knitting. Pieces are worked flat from side to side and then seamed. Front bands and collar are worked separately in one piece and seamed.
