A famous historical and artistic monument of Congonhas is the baroque sanctuary of Bom Jesus de Matosinhos. This sanctuary is one of the greatest achievements of the Brazilian Baroque. The paintings were executed by artist Manuel da Costa Ataide and the sculptures by artist Aleijadinho. Then came the inspiration to create this shawl.

Materials:
Yarn: Approximately 500 yards of DK weight yarn. Sample was done in Aslan Trends Oxford in color 20, beige (148 yards, 135 meters, 60% merino 40% angora), 3 balls.
Needles: US9/5,5 mm circular needle (80 cm)

Notions: 4 stitch markers in 2 different colors (color 1 and color 2), tapestry needle, blocking tools
Sizing (blocked): 148 cm x 56 cm
Gauge: 15 stitches by 22 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm (4”x 4”) in garter sititch

Pattern notes:
The shawl is performed in two stages, the first garter section with 4 increases in the right side and 2 on the wrong side. After the edge is atached to the body of the shawl using ssk, no need to sew anything.

Um célebre monumento histórico e artistico de Congonhas é o santuário barroco de Bom Jesus de Matosinhos. Esse santuário é uma das maiores realizações do barroco brasileiro. As pinturas foram executadas pelo artista Manuel da Costa Ataíde e as esculturas pelo artista Aleijadinho. Surgiu daí a inspiração para criar esse xale.

Materiais:
Fio: Aproximadamente 500 metros de Oxford da Aslan Trends na cor 20, bege (135 metros, 60% merino 40% angora), 3 novelos.
Agulhas: 5,5 mm circular (80 cm)

4 marcadores de pontos em 2 cores diferentes (cor 1 e cor 2), agulha de tapeçaria, peças para blocar
Tamanho (blocado): 148 cm x 56 cm
Amostra: 15 pontos e 22 carreiras = 10 cm x 10 cm (4”x 4”) em ponto “musgo”(pto meia no direito e no avesso)

Notas da receita:
O xale é realizado em 2 etapas, a primeira segue em cordões de tricô com 4 aumentos no lado direito e 2 aumentos no lado esquerdo. Depois a barra é unida ao corpo do xale usando 1 mate simples, não havendo necessidade de costurar nada.
