Xanthein Beanie
Overindulge in cables, you know you want to! This beanie is worked from the bottom up. The cables are quite arduous so this is not for a pattern for most beginners. You must be able to read cable charts for this pattern, there are no written chart rows.
Sizes: Small (Medium, Large) to fit an adult head circumference of 19” (21”, 23”)/48 (53.5, 58.5) cm.
Yarn: 175 (200, 250) yards/160 (185, 230) meters of sock weight yarn.
Sample shown in Greenwood Fiberworks Sublime colorway Gold Tonal.
Needles: Size US 3/3.25 mm and US 4/3.5 mm circular needles with a long (40”/100 cm) cable, or size needed to obtain gauge and one size smaller.
Gauge: 24 stitches and 32 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch on larger needles.
Notions: 7 stitch markers, a cable needle (optional, see pattern notes), a balloon (for blocking, optional), and a jumbo pompom (optional).
Techniques: Knitting in the round, cabling, chart reading, basic increases and decreases.
