ENGLISH
Xarabia is a circular yoke sweater that is knitted from the top down. Two strands are held together to form the wide stripes. The neck, ribbing and thin stripes in between are knitted holding a single strand of the main colour. The pattern has two options for the sleeves: short or 3/4. In the 3/4-sleeve version I held together a strand of fingering and a strand of mohair. In the short-sleeve version I held together two strands of silk fingering and changed the contrasting colour for each wide stripe. “Xarabia” means the water dust produced when the waves jump over the rocks or fine rain brought by the breeze in the dialect spoken in the northern Spanish region where I was born.

MATERIALS
• 5.5 mm (US9) circular needles for the body and sleeves. Adjust if necessary to achieve gauge.
• 4.5 mm (US7) or two sizes smaller than the larger needles for the neck and ribbing.
• Markers, tapestry needle and waste yarn to put the sleeve stitches on hold.

How to choose your size: measure your bust circumference, add the ease recommended below (i.e. 15-20 cm / 6-8 inches) and find the finished bust circumference measurement below that is closest to that figure. Make sure your gauge matches the one given below to ensure your finished garment will be the same dimensions.

GAUGE
16 stitches and 22 rounds in 10 cm / 4 inches with the larger needles in stockinette stitch, holding 2 strands, in the round and measured after blocking.

MEASUREMENTS
Finished bust circumference:

YARN
Use 1 strand of the main colour (MC) throughout and hold it together with 1 strand of the contrasting colour (CC) to form the wide stripes. The ribbing and thin stripes in between are knitted holding 1 strand of the MC only. In the 3/4 sleeve version, I used fingering as the MC and mohair as CC. In the short-sleeve version I used 2 strands of fingering and different contrasting colours for each wide stripe.

Version 1 – 3/4 sleeve with mohair:
• Main colour (MC): fingering-weight yarn. I used CaMaRose Yaku, colourway 1000 R Hvid (natural).

ESPAÑOL

El Xarabia es un jersey de canesú circular que se teje del cuello hacia abajo. Se usan dos hebras juntas para formar las franjas anchas y una sola hebra para los elásticos y rayas finas. El patrón ofrece dos opciones para la manga: corta o 3/4. En el de manga 3/4 mezclé fingering con mohair. En la versión de manga corta mezclé dos hebras fingering de seda y cambié el color de contraste en cada franja. “Xarabia” en asturiano es el polvillo de agua producido cuando el mar salta por encima de las rocas o la lluvia menuda y suave traída por la brisa.

MATERIALES
• Agujas circulares de 5,5 mm para el cuerpo y las mangas. (Ajustar el número de aguja si es necesario para conseguir la misma tensión que el patrón – ver más abajo.)
• Agujas circulares de 4,5 mm (o dos medidas menos que las agujas principales) para el cuello y los elásticos.
• Marcador, aguja lanera y lana de desecho para poner los puntos de las mangas en espera.

Cómo elegir tu talla: mide tu contorno de pecho, añade la holgura recomendada (15-20 cm) y encuentra en la tabla de medidas el contorno de pecho de la prenda terminada que más se aproxime a esa cifra. Asegúrate de que tu tensión coincide con la que se indica para que tu jersey tenga las mismas medidas. Ver vídeo en Tutoriales.

TENSIÓN
16 puntos y 22 vueltas en 10 cm, tejidos con hebra doble y las agujas más grandes en punto jersey, en circular, después de bloquear. Ver vídeo en Tutoriales.

HILADO
Usa una hebra del color principal (CP) en todo el jersey y júntala con una hebra del color de contraste (CC) para las franjas anchas. Los elásticos y rayas finas se tejen con una sola hebra del color principal. En la versión de manga 3/4, usé fingering para el color principal (CP) mezclado con mohair como color de contraste (CC). En la versión de manga corta usé dos hebras de grosor fingering y cambié el color de contraste en cada franja.

Versión 1 – manga 3/4 con mohair:
• Color principal (CP): 600 (645, 715, 790) (850, 950, 1150) (1330, 1490) m de lana de grosor fingering. Yo usé CaMaRose Yaku, color 1000 R Hvid (natural).
• Color de contraste (CC): 380 (430, 500, 550) (630, 700, 785) (880, 990) m de mohair o lana de grosor lace o fingering. Yo usé Waltz de Indoluna Yarn, color Fortuna.

Versión 2 – manga corta con franjas de colores:
• Color principal (CP): 450 (500, 550, 590) (650, 720, 850) (1100, 1200) m de lana de grosor fingering.
Yo usé Pure Silk de Knitting for Olive, color Cream (blanco).
• Color de contraste 1 (CC1): 155 (165, 180, 200) (260, 280, 320) (375, 415) m de lana de grosor fingering. Yo usé Pure Silk de Knitting for Olive, color Plum Rose (rosa).
• Color de contraste 2 (CC2): 130 (140, 150, 160) (175, 200, 250) (320, 430) m de lana de grosor fingering. Yo usé Pure Silk de Knitting for Olive, color Deep Petroleum (azul).
