Xinyi the Chinese Dragon
Meet Xinyi the Chinese Dragon (also known as a Long). He and his kin are revered as symbols of luck and prosperity. 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, and even though the Lunar New Year has come and gone, Xinyi thinks that dragons should be celebrated everyday! Mostly because he likes the attention, but also because he wants everyone to have a little more good fortune.
He can be made in any yarn and hook combination you want. Just be certain that the fabric is firm enough that stuffing does not show through.
My dragon is made using a 4.0 (G) hook and Loops & Thread Impeccable Solids in 4 different colors.
- Color 1: Jade (265 yards)
- Color 2: Butterscotch (60 yards)
- Color 3: Emerald (65 yards)
- Color 4: Cherry (30 yards)
Xinyi is an intermediate-to-advanced level pattern. Skills you will need include single crochet, half-double crochet, double crochet, slip stitches, bobble stitches, increases, decreases, working in the top and bottom of a foundation chain, crocheting back loops, crocheting pieces together, and some seaming.
The pattern is 18-pages long and has plenty of progress photos to help you along your way to making your own darling dragon.
