US size 6 4 mm straight or circular needle or size needed to obtain
gauge; US size 6 4 mm set of double pointed needles
Stitch markers, Waste yarn, Tapestry needle
4-3/8”(9mm)-diameter shank buttons
4-1/2”(12mm)-diameter backing buttons

Cardigan is knit in one piece from the neck down. A neckband flows into the yoke, which is increased to form raglan sleeves. The edge stitch is slipped to create a finished appearance, followed by garter stitches for a button band. Eyelet buttonholes are created on both sides, but either side can be omitted as desired. The cardigan is edged with XO cables that appear as the raglan sleeves are increased. Sleeves are separated until the body is finished. The sleeves and body are finished with garter ridge edges.
