XOXO I Love You Hat
Are you thinking about knitting something quick, simple, and cute for Valentine’s Day? How about a red and white hat?
This is a stranded knitted tam hat. I used yarn from my stash. I developed this pattern with a couple of Scandanavian motifs that I thought would be appropriate for Valentine’s Day.
This hat has a rolled brim and is finished using Kitchener stitching. You are welcome to use a different method of binding off the last stitches, but this is what I used. When you cast on, remember that you will want 2 inches of negative ease so the hat stays on securely. In other words, if your head measures 20 inches around, you will want to cast on the number of stitches for 18 inches.
If you want to try stranded knitting, this is a great first project. The charts are pretty simple and only 4 rows long.
I suggest you block this hat. I blocked mine over a round plate and the stranded motifs really popped.
On the PDF pattern, I have included links to YouTube videos on stranded knitting and the kitchener stitch.
