Xyla
Xyla is named after my eldest granddaughter. Blue is her favorite color.
Please note version 2 released 11/25/19 - corrections to long sleeve decrease section.
This is a top-down pattern knit seamlessly in the round. Stitches are cast on and a few rows of ribbing complete the neckline. Short rows shape the back. Lace adorns the yoke. Raglan increases are added for shaping to the underarms.
Sleeve stitches are put on hold and the body is knit in the round in stockinette. A lace edge completes the top.
Sleeve stitches are then picked up, with an option for cap, short or long sleeves.
Any DK weight yarn may be used - cotton, silk or linen blends make the perfect summer top and wool blends for colder weather.
As written, the body length (measured from the underarm join) is 14, (15, 15, 15, 16, 16, 17, 17)“/35, (38, 38, 38, 41, 41, 43, 43)cm. Additional yardage would be required for a longer top.
Yardage requirements:
Cap sleeve -- 520, (564, 596, 643, 735, 795, 934, 1031) yards/452,(516, 544, 588, 672, 727, 854, 943) meters
Short Sleeve - 531, (592, 623, 673, 767, 829, 972, 1072) yards/486, (541, 570, 615, 701, 758, 889, 980) meters
Long Sleeve - 709, (798, 830, 905, 1013, 1105, 1298, 1442) yards/648, (730, 759, 828, 926, 1010, 1187, 1319) meters
Please note the cotton linen blend yarn I used for the cap sleeve version used a lot more yardage than the other 2 yarns I used.
A huge thank you to test knitters for their attention to detail and constructive feedback.
