This pattern is made to use up some of that stash. The cowl is worked from the bottom up, so you can go until you run out of the main color. Once that is used up, you’ll work the edging on the neck to prevent the work from rolling, then work the bottom edging with the contrast color until that one is used up as well.

Sizes: One size, a neck circumference of about 40”/100 cm after blocking.

Yarn: 225 yards/205 meters of DK or worsted weight yarn in main color and 200 yards/185 meters of DK or worsted weight yarn in contrast color.
Sample shown in Sueño by HiKoo Hand Dyed colorway Apple Pie, dyed by MJ Yarns and Malabrigo Rios colorway Lavanda.

Needles: Size US 9/5.5 mm circular and straight (optional) needles, and size US 8/5 mm circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge plus one size smaller.

Gauge: 18 stitches = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch on larger needles before blocking. Row gauge is not important.

Notions: 4 stitch markers, 1 locking stitch marker, and a blocking mat.

Techniques: Make 1, knit front and back, knitting in the round, casting on stitches in the middle of a row, central double decrease (abbreviated as “CDD”, see tutorial here - http://bit.ly/2ioIDs4), Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off (optional, abbreviated as “JSSBO”, see tutorial here - http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall09/FEATjssbo.php) and picking up stitches.
