Welcome to Yamal!
You just appeared to be on one of the Russian peninsulas – Yamal Peninsula mostly covered with permafrost and the thaw lakes.
This Yamal shawl brings attention to melting permafrost in the age of climate change. You are going to knit the frozen permafrost, areas of only a little of thaw lakes, and the patterned landscape of many lakes called thermokarst.
YARN
1 skein of ITO Kinu (425 m / 50 g) or other Lace weight yarn. This yarn is 100% silk.
NEEDLES
Circular needles 3 mm = US 2.5
GAUGE
30 sts × 35 rows (10×10 cm) in garter stitch
SIZE
Depth: 40 cm (15.7”)
Outer arc: 195 cm (76.8”)
Inner arc: 120 cm (47.2”)
