Something very large crushes a small island village. Paleontologist Kyohei Yamane goes to the island, where he discovers giant radioactive footprints and a trilobite. The alarms sound, Yamane and the residents run to find the monster. They observe a giant dinosaur returning to the ocean deep. Yamane returns to Tokyo with reports of a 165 feet (50 m) tall Godzilla. Yamane believes that Godzilla is an ancient sea creature that has been disturbed by underwater hydrogen bomb testing.
