Yania Socks
You can’t beat a pair of fun socks! They will always bring a smile to your face, as does my friend Yania, hence, Yania Socks.
The Yania Socks feature a plaid-like pattern that is constructed using Stranded Colourwork. Fear not, there is never an occasion where you will need to catch your floats, so this pattern is kind to all Colourwork Knitters.
This pattern calls for an Afterthought Heel. My favourite Afterthought Heel Tutorial is by the Chilly Dog. Click the link below to see that video.

Yarn Used:
This pattern uses a fingering weight sock yarn. You’ll need at least 2 contrasting colours. If you are only using 2 colours, you will need
- Colour A: Includes Ribbing, Heel and Toe: 260m/284y
- Colour B: 140m/153y
For my pair, I used Colour Adventures Cashmere Sock in 5 colours
- Colour A: Opulent - 140m/153y
- Colour B: Moss - 70m/77y
- Colour C: Olive Grove - 70m/77y
- Colour D: Polar - 70m/77y
- Coloue E: Pumpkin - 70m/77y
If you are ok with having your Ribbing, Heel and Toe different colours, you could use any 5 colour sock kit for this pattern. (As long as each mini skein has at least 100m)
Needles:
- This pattern uses a 2.50mm on a 40” cord for Magic Loop. You can also use 2.50mm DPN’s or 9” circulars, whatever tools you prefer for knitting in small circumferences.
Gauge
- 32 sts / 4” in Colourwork Pattern
Sizes Available:
- This pattern will fit a foot with a circumference between 7.5” and 8.5”. The pattern consists of a 12 st repeat, so there is the ability to add, or subtract 12 sts and make minor adjustments to the stitch counts if you need to alter to size.
