This edgeing is a garter stitch pattern, that I made as, I needed a fairly broad border, with a row of eyelets as embellishment, to fit around the project I had just finished, in this case an Afghan made from large squares of either crochet or knitting.

Size? Depends how many yards you want to make up . Width? Dependant on needles and yarn used, less stitches a finer yarn? A smaller border. Just knit enough to go around the finished piece with perhaps a slight stretch, and allow for easing in at corners if using to trim a blanket or throw.

As I wanted to make this quickly , I used 4mm needles.

The basic pattern isn’t restricted to being used as a border trim . It could be used as a cuff for a crown, or trim for a knitted garment , etcetera, etcetera, the list? Its as long as your imagination. Its simple, very easy, and uses up scraps, perfect for that ..I want to make something, but don’t want to make a big project moment just pick this up and knit a few points (and dont forget to cast off !!)

As always this is a free pattern, please use it as you wish, but dont claim it as your own.

Much Love

NB If you wish to make a finer/less wide border, then play around with the needles , number of stitches cast on , rows worked , and yarn. For example for a thinner border cast on say 10 stitches, increasing by 1st every (odd)alternate row until you get to the desired number of sts, say for example 16 , ( you would have worked then 11rows, decreasing 6sts on the 12th row. For every 1 st increased you work 2 rows 6x2 =12 with the 12th row being the decrease row to create a point)
