This gorgeous, textured bonnet features a beautiful stitch pattern that is sure to keep baby’s head warm in style. The main section of the bonnet is worked flat before joining in the round to work the crown shaping. The simple, easy to memorise pattern is worked over multiples of 4 stitches across 8 row repeats, and the bonnet is finished with crochet ties. This delightful bonnet makes a quick knit and is the perfect gift for a new baby, or to add to any child’s wardrobe.

Sizes: Premie/Small Newborn, 0-3 months, 3-9 months, 9-24 months and 2-5 years

Yarn: Superfine Merino by Cleckheaton 8ply/DK (or any 8ply/DK merino).

Needle size: 4mm (6 US) circular needles.

Other equipment:

  • Needle for sewing in ends
  • 3.5mm-4.5mm crochet hook for ties

The textured pattern is inspired by Alison McCarney’s beautiful Mae beanie pattern, a favourite of mine to knit. Her pattern can be found in her Ravelry store, Boris + Stasha Design.
