Year of the Rabbit Acrobats In the Round
This pattern is inspired by the Chinese New Year of the Rabbit. It is for tiny rabbit acrobats that stand 10cm (4”) tall from the tip of their toes to the top of their ears. They are intended as a decoration not a toy although you could make them suitable for children by not including the armature frame. They do have small parts so not suitable for children under 3 years old.
There are 5 different designs of outfit - all based on a lucky red colour scheme.
You can make one rabbit with less than 22m of yarn & I have kept the colours used to 3 so that there is no need to buy lots of colours & the design is perfect for using up scraps of yarn. The rabbits are made with double-ended 2mm needles and 2-ply yarn, with arms & legs being made with i-cords & the body & head made in the round.
There is an option to add a wire armature so that they have poseable arms, body & legs. This means that they are a decoration which can hold onto each other & perform a variety of acrobatics – from aerial acrobatics on ribbons & hoops to surface-based balance acrobatics.
When you buy this pattern, you will also receive its twin - ‘Chinese New Year of the Rabbit’ (knitted flat) for free.
