Yggdrasil
Colder weather is imminent and I for one need to get my hands cosy whilst still being able to use my fingers for typing and knitting and whatnot. So, I whipped up this fingerless mitt pattern, using a traditional Norwegian thumb gusset, and borrowing some old Norwegian pattern repeats for the palm. The back side of the hand depicts a tree that gave me associations to the Tree of Life – Yggdrasil – in Norse Mythology
I hope you will enjoy this pattern, and if you need any help, please do not hesitate to contact me in my Ravelry group ‘Skeindeer Knits’. It’s the best place for swift support.
Yarn
Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift (100% Shetland wool, 105 m / 115 yds, 25 g).
Rauma Finull PT2 (100% Norwegian wool, 175 m / 191 yds, 50 g).
mc: 90-115 m / 98-126 yds
cc1: 50-85 m / 55-93 yds
cc2: 4-8 m / 5-9 yds
You will get the best results if you use a fingerint to sport weight, non-superwash, woollen spun sheep’s wool yarn. Alternatives: Jamieson & Smith’s 2 ply jumper weight, Navia Duo, Hillesvåg Ask, Tukuwool Fingering, Holst Supersoft, etc..
