I learned about the cartridge belt rib a while ago and decided to try knitting it in two colors. The result reminds me of yin yang, as each side has mostly one color with bits of the other color peeking through.

I used 2 colors of a cotton and acrylic blend DK yarn. Each skein was about 3.5 oz (100 g) and 219 yd (200 m), and I ended up using about 4.5 oz (128 g) or 285 yd (260 m) of each color. Any kind of yarn would work with this pattern, but note that a different gauge will affect the final size. Use needles that are slightly larger than recommended. Because of the way the colors are worked, DPNs or cable needles would work best.
