Key information
Suggested yarn: Super chunky yarn – my sample uses Paintbox Yarns Simply Super Chunky (60m/66yds per 100g) in the shades Red Rose and Champagne White. One ball of each will be enough for any of the sizes.

Needles: 10mm needles – either straight, or circular, depending on if you’re planning to knit the hat flat or in the round. If knitting it in the round, you’ll need 10mm DPNs for decreasing the crown, or a long circular needle to work magic loop.
You’ll also need a pom pom maker, a stitch marker, and a tapestry needle.

Gauge: 7 sts and 10 rows to 10cm/4in square, measured over stocking stitch.

Finished size: The finished hat has a circumference of around 40 (45, 51, 57) cm. It’s designed to be worn with 2-5cm of negative ease, so pick a size that’s smaller than your head circumference.
