These jars are so cute, I couldn’t just recycle them! They could hold sooooo many things, and make great little thank you gifts.

I have made them with a dk yarn, as well as a “worsted” yarn that was a little thinner than others. I found that using the half double crochet stitch gave it enough wiggle room and preserved the fit. If there is a different weight yarn you want to try, you only need to increase until you achieve that 3” measurement at the end of round 5, then you can continue on in the pattern. The only thing that will change is your stitch counts.

Experiment too! Try a crossed stitch, or all back loop only. Add some long chains to make a plant hanger as one of my testers has done!
