The “Yoking Around” design has a few features that are distinctive and fun to create. You will use short rows to create the curved yoke, which is worked first. The cable-ribbed cuffs, hem, and neckline are created with reverse twist stitches worked from the wrong side—no cable needle needed!

The most complicated part of the pattern is probably picking up the stitches on the upper and lower edges of the curved yoke. The neckline is worked up from the yoke, and the sleeves and body are worked down from the yoke.

This PDF knitting pattern is designed to fit 18” dolls such as American Girl®.

Supplies Needed:
-1 skein of fine fingering weight wool or blends (you might want to have spare yarn to save you from any stress, but I had some left with both of my example sweaters).
(I used 100% wool Palette and Stroll yarns, from Knitpicks.com, which have 231 yards in a 50 g ball).
-Knitting needles, US size 1, 0, and 00 or size to obtain gauge.
-Six sets of 4/0 snaps for back closure, with needle & coordinating thread OR a separating zipper, if your sweater ends up on the tight side.
-Yarn needle for finishing
-Small crochet hook (optional) to aid in picking up and knitting from the edges of the yoke, as well as finishing the back edge

Gauge—in stockinette stitch with size 1 needles, my gauge is 17-18 stitches and 23 rows in a 2 x 2 inch square (5.1 cm).
