York Minster Shawl
This pattern was inspired by a 2016 visit to York Minster, a stunning 15th century Gothic cathedral in the north of England. I was particularly moved by the Rose Window in the south transept.
Fascinated by how the sunlight shone through the stained-glass window, I wanted to design a shawl which depicted shards of coloured light on top of beautiful stone work.
The shawl is a relatively simple lace shawl, as I wanted to give space and time to the colours of hand-dyed yarn. It is designed so you can play around with colour placement, and choose for yourself how you want to frame the delicate lace inserts. Take your time in deciding your colour sequences.
The pattern is both written and charted, and it contains a schematic.
