Yorkie Love
Nicknamed “the tomboy toy,” the Yorkie is a fiesty and adorable little creature. While not a Yorkie owner myself, devotees of this breed are in my knitting circle, and I created this pattern for them.
The pattern includes charts for knitting a traditional stranded colorwork hat using six colors of yarn and a Faux Isle hat, worked in two colors. A variegated yarn with a contrasting solid work well for the Faux Isle project. Use the solid for the motifs or use a solid for the background—for a different look.
You may use remnants of fingering yarn (preferably wool) in your stash to make this hat, which requires very little yardage.
Fair Isle Hat
Cascade 220 Fingering, 100% Wool, 273 yards/250m, 50g.
1 skein each:
Color A: Doeskin Heather 8012
Color B: Vandyke Brown 7822
Color C: White 8505
Color D: Amber Glow 9622 (orange)
Color E: Magenta 7803
Color F: Jade 7813
or 240 (285) yards in total of six colors of fingering weight yarn. (You will need 150 (175) yards of Color A, and the remaining yardage will be used for Color B-F. Scraps of stash yarn will work well to complete the colorwork.)
Faux Isle Hat

or 240 (285) yards in total of two colors of fingering weight yarn (You will need 150 (165) yards of a Color A and 90 (120) yards for Color B.)
This pattern includes both Fair Isle and Faux Isle charts for sizes XS/S and M/L.
