This Hat is a great first project for Brioche knitting.
You can wear the hat either slouchy or folded beanie style. Very versatile for women or men, any age…. with your yarn choice.

Knitting in the round with two colors yarns is the best way to understand the basic Brioche stitch.

The crown shaping (decreasing) is a little bit challenging, but you should be ready when you get to the point.

Sizes available
Please choose DK for Women’s size and Worsted weight for Men’s size.
Although Brioche stitches are so stretchy and bouncy, both weights of the yarns still would work great for unisex.

Yarns
If this is your first time to Brioche, you might want to choose two good contrasting colors and smooth yarns.

Women’s - Tosh DK
Mens’s - Malabriogo Rios + Ewe Ewe worsted

Yardage - approx. 100 yards each color

Needles
Brioche works best with one or two size(s) smaller needles.
Women’s - US #5 for CO, US #4 for Brioche
Men’s - US #6 for CO, US #5 for Brioche

Additional needles for Crown - You will need DPN or other methods to finish shaping the crown. Because of the many yarn overs of Brioche stitches, two circular or magic loop method might be easier than using DPN.
