Your Heart's Desire blanket: Square 7
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS THE INDIVIDUAL SQUARE PATTERN ONLY. THE COMPLETE PATTERN FOR ALL PARTS OF THE BLANKET IS AVAILABLE AS AN EBOOK HERE
Begin your winter knitting with a KAL project destined to become a family heirloom! This is the seventh square of Lynne Rowe’s vibrant, heart-themed blanket. Beginning with the November 2018 issue, each issue of Simply Knitting will include patterns for 2 blanket squares. Follow along to create your own special blanket. The suggested yarn comes in 36 colours, so you’re bound to find your favourite shades!
Each finished square measures approx. 7.25”, and the 36-square blanket measures approx. 47.25”.
For the entire blanket (36 squares) you will need
Scheepjes Stone Washed
Yarn A: 7 skeins (Moon Stone 801)
Yarn B: 2 skeins (Coral 816)
Yarn C: 2 skeins (Blue Apatite 805)
Yarn D: 2 skeins (Peridot 827)
Yarn E: 2 skeins (Beryl 833)
Yarn F: 1 skein (Garnet 810)
Yarn G: 1 skein (Amazonite 813)
Yarn H: 1 skein (Rose Quartz 820)
and Scheepjes River Washed
Yarn I: 2 skeins (Danube 948)
Yarn J: 1 skein (Nile 944)
Yarn K: 1 skein (Mekong 943)
The border uses 1 ball each of Yarns A, B, and C. Tassels and duplicate stitch can be made with leftover or scrap yarn.
Square 7 is a pretty heart motif. The blanket calls for Square 7 to be made three times: once each in Yarn A, Yarn D and Yarn J. The body of the heart is worked in moss stitch and bordered by delicate eyelet stitches – a great introduction to lace knitting!
