’Your New Favourite Jumper’ is a super chunky jumper knit from the top down with raglan sleeve. You will begin by casting on the neck band, then increase across the yoke before splitting and holding the stitches for the sleeves. You will then continue to knit the body in the round before returning to the sleeves to finish.

The pattern pdf contains a handy chart to help you keep track of your stitch count and rows as you work up the yoke.

SIZE:
The Your New Favourite Jumper knitting pattern provides instructions for sizes XS-XL
Finished garment (laid flat) measurements are as follows:
XS (S) M (L) XL

Chest width: 111 (117) 128.5 (134) 140 cm
Length (from cast-on edge): 48 (48) 49 (49) 50 cm
Sleeve length (from underarm): 30 (30) 31 (31) 32 cm

The size you choose to knit the jumper depends on how oversized you would like the fit to be. I recommend grabbing an old favourite jumper that you like the fit of, measuring up and using that as your guide.

Sophie wears size Large in Oatmeal, Extra Large in Fern and Extra Small in Glacier

GAUGE:
7 sts x 10 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4“ on 12mm (US 17) needles knit flat in stocking stitch

YARN:
You can use any super chunky yarn you wish to knit up this pattern provided you can meet the gauge. The samples in the photos are worked using Moloneymakes Super Chunky Yarn

Approximate yardage for each size is as follows:
348 (425) 446 (474) 518 m
381 (465) 488 (519) 567 yds

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS:

  • 10mm circular needles measuring 40cm
  • 12mm circular needles measuring 80cm
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in the ends
  • 9 stitch markers (to fit 12mm needles). 8 of these will mark the raglan increases, 1 will mark the beginning of the round so it is ideal to have a distinction for this marker (e.g. a different colour)
  • 2m of scrap yarn to hold stitches

OPTIONAL set of four 12mm double pointed knitting needles, (or a 12mm circular needle measuring 40cm) if you don’t want to use Magic Loop method when knitting the sleeves and a set of four 10mm double pointed knitting needles (or a longer 10mm circular needle to do magic loop) for a smoother, less clunky method of knitting the cuffs.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • knit in the round
  • purl (for rib stitch)
  • M1L and M1R
  • hold stitches
  • pick up and knit stitches
