Yun Shu
The inspiration for Yun Shu came from a little girl living in the community, wearing a commonly seen jeans jumper suit. She said hi to HJ and it brought back memories of HJ’s schooling days. While reminiscing about the good old times, HJ decided to create little Yun Shu to commemorate that chance meeting.
The pattern includes the doll body and hair, white t-shirt, blue jumper suit, shoes and hat.
Required stitches include Chain (ch), Single Crochet (sc), Half Double Crochet (hdc), Double Crochet (dc), Increase and Decrease for sc, hdc and dc, Reverse Single Crochet (reverse sc, also known as crab stitch) Front Loop Only (FLO) and Back Loop Only (BLO).
Gauge is not critical as long as consistent tension is applied.
Please note that we have used 2 different sizes of hooks, 2.5mm hook for the doll’s body and clothes, 3.5mm for the doll’s hair and hat.
We consider this pattern an intermediate one where you are already familiar with the different crochet stitches and able to join parts together.
Most body parts are started using a magic ring and worked in joined rounds unless otherwise indicated. Start every round with a Ch 1. End every round with sl st to the first sc. Ch 1 and start in the same stitch. If you are not familiar with the magic ring, you may wish to start with ch 2 and crochet the indicated number of sts into the 2nd ch from the hook.
We insert soft wire into the limbs, body and head of the doll before stuffing with poly-fil.
