Zagora is a small village on the mountain of Pelion in Greece. It’s a breathtaking place that I have been visiting for years and every time I am amazed by its beauty. This was my inspiration for the design of Zagora Cardigan. It is an elegant and classical piece, that can be worn at office or when going out. It looks especially nice when paired with trousers, a skirt or even on top of a dress.

To create your special Zagora Cardigan, select a soft fingering weight yarn, in solid color, with drape and a slight halo… it looks beautiful even in dull colored yarns.

Construction Notes:

Zagora Cardigan is a standard fitting cardigan made from a blend of British wool and Alpaca. It is worked flat, bottom-up with set-in sleeves. The Back and Sleeves are worked in Stockinette stitch and the Front pieces in a simple lace pattern. The Back and Front pieces are seamed together at the sides and shoulders. Sleeves are set-in. Garter stitch borders are picked-up to create the buttonband, buttonhole band and neckband.

Techniques used: Simple lace knitting (charts and written instructions included), increasing, decreasing, bind off, making bobbles, seaming and setting in sleeves.

Skill Level: Intermediate.
