The sweater is worked top-down with raglan increases. German Short Rows are worked over the back yoke and shoulders at the beginning to lengthen the neck and create a nice shape of the neckline. The pattern alternates between 4 rounds of stockinette stitch and 4 rounds of structure, which consist of knit and purl stitches.

The sizes are based on a positive ease of approximately 14-19 cm, calculated based on the following chest measurements: 53 (57) 61 (66) 72 (78) cm. If the child’s chest measurement is 60 cm, size 6 years will give a positive ease of 18 cm. If, for example, the child is 6 years old with a chest measurement of 65 cm, size 8 years will give a positive ease of 19 cm. In this case, size 8 years can be knitted, while following the length measurements for size 6 years. It is always recommended to try the sweater on during the knitting process to ensure the correct length for the body and sleeves.
