This pattern hasn’t yet been subjected to the rigours of pattern testing so if any errors are spotted please message me and I’ll amend the pattern. Thank you.

13/2/2022 - Just reading through the pattern I noticed I haven’t included an instruction for removing the stitch markers. This occurs in the first row of the Contrast Colour Working section. I will update the pattern in the next few days.

Zarra is a simple triangle shawl starting with a provisional Garter Tab Cast On. The pattern uses approx. 100g of yarn and is a perfect shawlette/neck scarf size. By changing any or all of the variables, yarn weight, needle size, increase repeats, this could easily be made into a much larger shawl. Remember…more rows, more yarn required.
The use of stripes always leads to numerous colour possibilities and the tassels, I just love tassels, add the fun aspect and a pop of colour.
It’s a great project for using up those odd balls of yarn in your stash and the end result a useful accessory either for yourself or to gift. Quick, easy and looks good….what’s not to like?

Measurements
Width (along top edge) - 102cm (40”)
Length (at centre back) - 40cm (16”) - not including tassels

Materials
Fingering weight yarn in 2 colours (100g in total), plus a small amount of a contrast colour for the contrast stripe and tassels.
MC1 - 50g
MC2 - 50g
CC - 20g
3.5mm (US 4) circular needles
3.5mm crochet hook (required for provisional cast on)
Stitch markers (2)
Tapestry needle
Waste yarn

Gauge
Stocking Stitch - 3.5mm needles
24 sts x 34 rows - 10cm x 10cm (4” x 4”) - after blocking

Gauge is not really important when knitting this shawl and could easily be changed by using a different weight yarn or changing the needle size.

Note:
The pattern uses the increase method Make 1 or M1 (M1R, M1L, M1RP, M1LP) where the bar between 2 stitches is worked into. You can use the pattern suggested method or simply substitute your preferred increase method, for example KFB or YO.
