I used Caron Simply Soft Solids for the pattern but any brand worsted weight yarn will do. Variegates work well for the skulls as another option. You just need one color for the skulls and one color for the border/2 skeins total.

The gauge depends on the yarn and hook you use. The smaller the weight and hook, the smaller the scarf will be and vice versa. I have used sport weight yarn for a smaller child size scarf, for example.

Material yardage is based on a standard Caron Simply Soft Solid skein. I’ve also used Red Heart Unforgettable and other brands, no matter which yarn you use you will have enough to do 14 skulls with one skein easily. The border will take even less.

This is all based on 14 skulls to make 1 adult size scarf. You can always do more or less skulls depending on the size you want.
