THIS PATTERN IS WRITTEN IN ENGLISH

This pattern is easy to follow but requires basic crochet knowledge.

This pattern is written in English.
It is written in US terms but easy to convert to UK.

It is worked in African Flower shapes with instructions on how to make the motifs plus picture and written instructions to follow for assembly.

Material Requirements
The Zebra head that has been crocheted for this pattern used Crafty Things double knit which is similar to Stylecraft special dk
You can of course use any brand of double-knit/light/3 weight
This pattern would also work using aran/worsted/4 weight yarn but would be much bigger.

All weights are approximate and will vary depending on the brand of yarn you choose and how tightly you crochet.

Black approx 80 g
White approx 70 g
Safety eyes 30mm (available from Amazon, eBay or Etsy)
Optional cheap fake eye lashes.
Wire brush for making the mane.
Polyester toy stuffing

Useful Items
Scissors
Tapestry or darning needle used for sewing motifs together.
Stitch markers

Hook sizes needed
2.50 mm

Using this weight yarn and size hook will give you a Zebra head roughly measuring
20 cm from cheek to cheek
30 cm from the back of the head to the nose.
30 cm from top of the ears to the bottom of the head.

All the crochet stitches used in this pattern are based on American crochet terms
Abbreviations
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
hdc= half double crochet
trc =treble crochet
dtr= double treble crochet.
inc = Increase
dec= Decrease
sl st= slip stitch
Rnd= Round

If you are planning to make your Zebra in a heavier weight yarn, adjust your hook size accordingly. Use the smallest hook size possible for the weight of yarn that you are using. We need the stitches tight so the stuffing doesn’t show too much between stitches.
I recommend making a test motif to gauge tension.
