zero waste scarf
I’m always on the lookout for a good way to use up leftover yarn. Pompoms, fringes and tassels are great, but thrumming is not just a pretty effect, it’s a way to add warmth to your scarf whilst also making use of smaller pieces.
This scarf is knitted in the round, with faux seams to help it lie flat. The thrums are encased inside the tube and will slowly felt over time with use. You can sew up the tube at each end, or you could use up the last of the ends by making a fringe.
This pattern provides instructions for 2ply / heavy laceweight, 4ply / fingering and DK weight yarn. You can use any weight of yarn, you just need at least 175g of it.
Size: approximately 18cm wide by 160cm long after blocking, not including fringe. Size will vary a little depending on the weight of yarn you use.
