Zig and Zag Kitchen Cloths
Errata: P. 38 and P. 39 Ignore the instructions that state: “Rows 37 to 72: As Rows 1-36.” Just work Rows 1-36 one time (unless you want to make a very large tea towel!)
This is just one of many patterns available in my book, Mosaic Knitting Workshop!
My book can be found via Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Bookmarked Hub, and other major book retailers. Signed copies of my book are available on my personal website here. Is it possible to make washing dishes and cleaning countertops fun? Probably not, but it’s always fun to create a decorative dishcloth and tea towel to add a bit of flair to your kitchen. Cotton is the best fiber to use for dishcloths and towels - and it becomes more absorbent after it’s been washed a few times. You can make both the dishcloth and tea towel using just two balls of Lion Brand Pima Cotton in Dragonfly, and one ball in Vintage.
Yarn
Lion Brand Pima Cotton (100% cotton), aran, 100g (170 m/186 yds), in the following shades:
- Vintage (099r); 1 ball
- Dragonfly (178y); 2 balls
Knitting Needles
- Size 4.5mm (US 7) needles
- Size 5mm (US 8) needles
Other Tools and Materials
Stitch markers (optional)
Tension/Gauge
21 sts and 42 rows measure 10 x 10cm (4 x 4in) over mosaic motif using 5mm needles and over a double seed stitch using 4.5 mm needles.
Tension is not critical for this pattern but may affect yarn requirements.
Finished Size
Dishcloth: 19 x 19cm (7.5 x 7.5in) after blocking
Dish Towel: 31 x 69cm (12 x 27in) after blocking
