Hand Knitting Pattern: Cardigan (shawl collar, wide sleeves)
Yarn weight: Worsted (9 wpi) or Aran (8 wpi)
Suggested yarn: Cascade Yarns ® Cascade 220®, Mission Falls 1824 Wool, Filtes King Extra, Noro Kureyon

I used 15-20 different LEFTOVERS! 1 or 2 balls of each colour, sometimes only enough for a few rows. BUT, Noro yarn or any self striping yarn would be equally spectacular. The collar is folded and hemmed to the inside to create a facing. Most of the yarn ends will be encased inside the double thickness of the collar.

Drop shoulder sleeves are wide and unshaped: 16-18 in circumference. Armholes are 8-9 in deep.
The cast-on number of stitches includes the double layer of collar, as well as the back and two fronts. So yes, very wide. The measurements of 36 (42, 48, 54) in are for the body only.
The rest is collar, that will be folded inward and doesn’t count in the fit of the garment.
In case you are questioning how the collar folds over to make a facing, I have a photo with the seaming outlined in white. It may seem like an awful lot of stitches for the fronts. But they are for the collar, so you can wear it open, or overlapped closed.

Rated: intermediate
Skills required: knit/purl, working in sections, keeping in stitch pattern, changing colours, seaming.
