Zig Zag Ribbed Scarf
This reversible zig zag scarf is a fun spin on a basic ribbed scarf with a garter stitch edge. This project is great for beginners as the project only uses knit and purl stitches as well as casting on and binding off. For more advanced knitters the project provides a nice repetitive (but still interesting) pattern that is great for knitting on the couch or on a road trip.
The sample shown here is knit in my Fantasy DK yarn in the color Lavender.
Project Details
Sizes: Scarf can be knit to any length you desire, but I’ve included instructions for a short, medium, or long scarf. Medium and long length instructions will be included in parentheses ( ). Short scarf measures approx. 55.” Medium measures approx. 65.” Long scarf measures approx 75.”
Yarn: 2 skeins Fantasy DK yarn, or equivalent. Fantasy DK is a 75% superwash merino, 20% nylon, and 5% silver stellina blend. It contains 231 yards per 100g skein.
Needles & gauge: US size 7 needles. The project is worked flat so straight needles or a circular are both workable. Gauge isn’t too important for a scarf, but should be around 20 stitches/24 rows per 4 square inches.
Notions: A stitch marker is useful to mark the right side of the project. A tapestry needle is needed if you choose to utilize a sewn bind off method
