Zig Zag and Scribble your way through this two-color brioche shawl! Never-ending amusement awaits you in this deep asymmetrical triangle shawl, with an all-over zig zag brioche lace stitch pattern, perfect for showcasing artisan hand-dyed yarns.

Do you have any beautiful, one-of-a-kind skeins of artisan hand-dyed yarns in your stash? This is the perfect pattern for them! Grab 4 skeins of fingering weight yarn in any number of colors - I grabbed 3 different colors: 2 skeins of 1 color for the Contrast Color, and 2 different colored skeins for the Main Colors! The two MC yarns are very similar, but one is a bit darker than the other.

Skill level: Intermediate. Basic brioche skills are not required, but are recommended. Techniques used: knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brioche increases and decreases (no br4st dec!!!), asymmetrical triangle shawl shaping.

If you have not yet tried knitting brioche, fear not!! This shawl may look complicated, but the zigs and zags are made by increasing and decreasing the brioche stitches and are so much fun once you learn! This pattern is written so that ANYONE can knit it, with photo tutorials and links to videos teaching some of the techniques. I also offer an online course, Mastering Brioche with Knit Graffiti!

Construction Notes: I developed this stitch pattern to be so fun as it grows! It is fairly easy to memorize after working a few repeats, as you can watch the lines zig and zag through the shawl. Think of yourself as scribbling with yarn, so don’t be afraid to go wild with color and speckles!! Choose bold and vibrant colors that you wouldn’t normally put together, or even go with a softer palette to let the pattern shine. This asymmetrical triangle shawl is knit flat from cast on tip to bind off edge, with increases at the left edge of the shawl. 2 stitches are increased every Main Side, Main Color row, creating this asymmetrical shape. The zig zag brioche lace stitch pattern grows with the shawl, until binding off. This shawl can be easily modified by adding or omitting pattern repeats!

This pattern is both written and charted, for your convenience!
