A classic cable cardigan, with textured stitch panels and diamond cables, offering the knitter a stepping stone to more complex cable designs with a highly-textured fabric creating a cardigan that will be worn and worn.

The Zigzagious Cable Cardigan uses simple cables and knit and purl stitches to create a highly textured fabric. Additional techniques include increasing and decreasing and knitting in rib. The cardigan is made from five main pieces: the back, a left and right front piece plus two sleeves. After the five main pieces have been knit, join the shoulder seams, and knit the neckband. Next, the left and right button bands are knitted, and buttons are sewn on. Finally, the top of each sleeve is sewn onto either side of the cardigan and the sleeve and side seams of the cardigan are sewn together. To complete the cardigan, sew in ends and block the fabric.
