I recently designed some shorty socks (a bit above the ankle) in worsted weight yarn, perfect for the loose gauge knitter. My daughter Sara (the original Sassy) loves them, as do her sisters. My 90-year-old Aunt Zipora also loves them, but she hates wearing short socks, so I adapted the Sassy Socks into higher Zippy Zocks.

You knit this sock from the cuff down on double-pointed needles. It has a reinforced slip-stitch heel, which is turned using short rows. The pattern comes in two sizes, small adult and medium adult. Feel free to make any alterations you like. You can use Magic Loop or even two circular needles.

You also need to know that I knit very loosely (I guess I am a very relaxed knitter, and knitting relaxes me even more). You may need to go down a needle size (or even two sizes) to get gauge.
