My daughters are both really big into Sesame Street right now and they both wanted to be Sesame Street characters for Halloween. My youngest wanted to be Abby Cadabby, and thankfully we had no trouble finding a costume for her. My oldest, however, wanted to be Zoe who apparently is not the most popular character on the show. We looked everywhere and couldn’t find anything, so we figured we’d take a shot at making a costume for her. Finding a
pink leotard, tights and ballet shoes was easy, so was finding an orange shirt. But when we put it all together you really had no idea that she was Zoe (she just looked like a ballerina). So I decided to try my hand at making a hat for her. I had made a Princess Leia hat for my youngest the previous year and had crocheted many different things since then so I was reasonably confident that I could do it. This pattern is what I ultimately came up with and it turned out so well (in my opinion) that I thought I would share it with all those other parents out there looking to turn their kids into Zoe for Halloween or any other occasion. I also can see this pattern
working for Rosita (with some color changes), Grover and Elmo (with color changes and losing the hair). I will say that there is a lot of interpretation with this hat. Some may want more or less
hair, some may want to change the color (we used a darker orange than Zoe to match the shirt we had bought), or a variety of other changes. My hope is that this pattern is written in way that is
