I made this cat toy for a few friends of mine and their kitties. They absolutely loved it! I thought to myself one day, “Wouldn’t it be grand if we could knit our own toy for our furry loved ones at home?…” That’s just what I did!

Everybody kept telling me I need to write a pattern because so many knitters have cats, and it could be a fast and easy knit. Naturally, I agreed… and along came Zoey… The Cat Toy… and this great knitting pattern! (Of course, you can name yours whatever you’d like)

I chose Plymouth Galway Worsted Wool because of it’s more natural nature, but you can use any worsted weight yarn. And I know how fun it is to see your “fur ball” enjoying a catnip experience, and the intrigue that comes with noise making toys, so you can make yours with or without jingle bells… with or without catnip… and even with or without a tail if you wish… It’s all up to you!

The ball measures about 2 1/4 inches in diameter (5.5 cm), and just over 13 inches in length (over 33 cm).

This pattern is worked in the round on double pointed needles or a 32” circular needle. It uses Jeremy’s Star Cast On (See video on YouTube @ Designs By Jeremy)
