The perfect time for a trip to the zoo!
And here is the matching kids beanie (suits baby to toddler).
I chose the most popular animals.. giraffes, elephants and a little lion. More animals would not have fit on the hat :)
The bigger version also features a band of trees (which can not be seen in the picture). Picture shows size XS.

It has a two color ribbing (imitating the white fence color), a band of giraffes, a band of elephants holding each others tail and cute little lion babies on top! And some fences inbetween and a fence like finish.

Due to the many color changes this little hat is a bit more demanding. However it has at most two colors in one round. So you might give it a try. It’s easier than you think. Weaving in the new yarns and yarn tails during knitting will save you a lot of sewing time afterwards.

I knitted it with 4-ply Acrylic yarn (Buttinette Versailles 50g/196 m) in the smallest size XS and 3.0 mm needles. You can also use any similar 4 - to 5-ply yarn (Merino or sock yarn). Size may then differ slightly. A testknitter knitted it with 6-ply yarn and got an adult/bigger kids beanie from it.

The hat in the smallest size gets a bit longer than normal beanies. You might shorten the ribbing a bit to compensate for it.

Please note: My elbow nerve surgery has to be redone (it’s scheduled for August 12) as the first was a mess. I have to wear a cast again for some weeks and so I will be “disarmed” once again for a while.

Die perfekte Zeit um in den Zoo zu gehen!
Und hier ist die dazu passende Baby- und Kleinkindmütze.
Ich hab 3 der beliebtesten Tiere auf die Mütze gestrickt.
Giraffen, Elefanten und Löwenbabies. Mehr wär beim besten Willen nicht drauf gegangen :)

Sie hat einen zweifarbigen Bund (in der Zaunfarbe),gefolgt von Giraffen, Elefanten (die sich gegenseitig am Schwanz halten) und eine Gruppe Löwenbabies. Dazwischen und auf der Mützenspitze sind Zaunelemente.

Die größere Variante hat auch noch eine kleine Baumbordüre. Sie ist nicht auf dem Bild zu sehen. Dort seht Ihr nur die Größe XS.

Ich habe sie in 4-fach Buttinette Versailles Acrylgarn gestrickt. Ihr könnt aber jedes andere ähnliche Garn (Merino, Sockenwolle) dafür verwenden oder auch Reste mischen.

Aufgrund der vielen Farbwechsel ist es eher ein Muster für fortgeschrittene Mehrfarbenstricker. Allerdings ist sie einfacher zu stricken als Ihr glaubt, weil maximal 2 Farben in einer Runde verwendet werden! Eine Bekannte hat sie in 6-fach Garn gestrickt und daraus eine Kinder- bzw. Erwachsenenmütze gezaubert.

Die kleine Variante fällt etwas länger aus als normale Mützen aufgrund des Mustersatzes. Man kann es etwas durch einen kürzeren Bund ausgleichen.

Mein Teststrick geht übrigens an den Adventsbasar der Sozialstiftung Bamberg (Krankenhausbasar für die Brustkrebshilfe Bamberg)

Achtung: Die Ellbogennervverlegung muss nochmal wiederholt werden, weil die erste Mist war. Am 12.08. bin ich deswegen im Krankenhaus. Weiss noch nicht wie lange. Im Anschluß krieg ich wieder Oberarm-Gips. Wohl für 2 Wochen.
