So what’s this all about? It’s the first of an annual event called Armchair Travel Knits. Next year we’ll visit someplace different. I love to travel. My life right now doesn’t lend itself to much travel so I like to be an armchair traveler. I watch shows about other places in the world and I’m just amazed at what I see and learn. It’s about getting together here on Ravelry and in my studio to knit designs inspired by New York City.
Why New York City? My mother was born there and spent some of her childhood there. She used to tell me stories about New York and I was hooked. Later after they’d send 4 children to college they retired and visited there every year. They would return and I’d hear more about this great city!
So what does $15 get you? All 5 patterns will be released that day ($30 value) and we’re trying to set up a link so we can talk to everyone from the studio! This is the first of my Armchair Travel Series which will be an annual event.
I have designed the Central Park Skate Set, Cab Fare Mitts, Fog on the Boardwalk Scarf, Carousel Mitts and a surprise sock inspired by the book A Tree Grows in Brooklyn! All are pictured and you can see the yarn for the sock. The yarn is being dyed for us by Carolyn at Tale and Tendril.
I’m so excited about this I just can’t help but spread my enthusiasm. Check out the Big Apple Knits KAL in my group!
